The Society for Molecular Biology and Evolution (SMBE) is a society aimed at providing "facilities for association and communication among molecular evolutionists and to further the goals of molecular evolution, as well as its practitioners and teachers". They organize an annual conference each year in a different country, even on different continents were possible. Last time I went there, in 2010, it was organized in Lyon and after abstract submission I was invited to present my research. I even got a travel grant!
This year it is organized in Puerto Rico and I am really looking forward to it. This conference features exactly my type of research interests as it is a combination of molecular and evolutionary research. I guess I will have a hard time deciding what lectures to attend since most are in parallel. Unfortunately, this year my abstract was not chosen for an oral presentation which means that I am only allowed to present my research as a poster. In this case I will present my research on Epigenetics of Great tit personality that I did at the NIOO-KNAW.
The poster I'll bring along is titled: DNA methylation of Dopamine Receptor D4 is associated with personality traits in great tits (Parus major), and I'm in session 2 with poster number P-2224.
