BSc and MSc thesis topics
In our team we can always use good students with an interest in evolutionary and molecular biology. Many projects are possible and most projects will include standard molecular techniques such as RNAi, qPCR, sequencing but some projects may include setting up some state-of-the-art molecular technique such as CAS9/CRISPR. Depending on your interest, projects can focus on the comparison of two species or genera in their evolution of sex determination but also on the role of doublesex in embryonic development. As may be clear, there are many possibilities for a BSc or MSc thesis project that can be tailored to your interests!
Project suggestions (click the link for more information on the project):
1. Manipulating reproduction: Effect of Wolbachia endosymbiont on sex determination
2. Involvement of doublesex in regulating mating behaviour in Nasonia vitripennis?
3. Expression levels of doublesex during development using qPCR
4. Targeted mutation induction in doublesex splice variants using CRISPR

But see also the projects in the WUR TIP database
