In this personal section I would like to highlight two totally different hobbies I'd like to spend my free time with. Fish keeping and such Already as a child I was fascinated by nature and the possibilities of keeping a section of nature at home. This started with a not so natural goldfish in a too small tank, then going to some small type of carp (White Cloud Mountain minnow) in a even smaller tank.
When I moved to my own room as a student, I decided to go a bit bigger and bought a second hand 80cm tank that I kept for two years. Then I could move to a bigger apartment and so the size of the aquarium could increase as well to a nice 120cm tank. This tank I kept for many years, but at at some point I became a bit bored with it and I invested less and less time into maintaining the aquarium.
I have always loved tropical plants and especially bromelia's and I thought of combining this with keeping fish, so I sold the tank and decided to build a tropical rainforest terrarium, also called a paludarium. In this type of terrarium I could grow many bromelia's which are used by poison dart frogs for breeding. I build this paludarium together with my partner and the build log and more information can be found in the section "Paludarium".
Holidays in Scotland
Motorcycles My second passion is motorcycle riding. In December 2012 I got my drivers licence and I bought a second hand Yamaha 535 Virago (1993, US imported). Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time to ride around but in May 2013 my parter and I made a trip to Scotland on the motorcycle and we stayed for one week at Loch Ness. Pictures from that holiday are primarily made by my boyfriend and can be seen in the section "Motor trip to Scotland 2013".
